Morganite and Freshwater Pearl: Rose Gold Meets the Sea

Morganite is a pink to peach variety of beryl, the same mineral family as emerald and aquamarine, and its characteristic warm colouring comes from trace amounts of manganese. The finest specimens are found in Brazil, Madagascar, and Afghanistan, and it is associated with compassion, emotional warmth, and the heart chakra. Freshwater pearls, cultivated primarily in China, are the only gemstones produced by a living organism, and their lustre, called orient, is created by the layering of calcium carbonate crystals over time. In the same strand at 3 mm, the morganite and pearl read as a single warm, glowing composition rather than two distinct materials.
