Kunzite at 2 mm: Colour Through Accumulation

At 2 mm, each individual kunzite bead is tiny enough that its colour is almost subliminal. Kunzite is a variety of spodumene found in Brazil, Afghanistan, and the United States, and its characteristic pale blush colouring is produced by trace amounts of manganese within the crystal structure. Named in 1902 after the gemologist George Frederick Kunz, it is associated with the heart chakra, with compassion, and with the kind of emotional clarity that does not need to announce itself. In this necklace, the colour is worn rather than displayed.
