Yellow Opal and Freshwater Pearls: Sun and Water

Yellow opal is a variety of common opal found primarily in Peru and Mexico, valued for its warm semi-translucent honey-gold colouring produced by iron oxide inclusions within its silica structure. It is associated with creativity, optimism, and the kind of emotional warmth that opens rather than closes. Freshwater pearls are cultivated primarily in China and are the only gemstones produced by a living organism. Their lustre, called orient, is created by the layering of calcium carbonate crystals over time, and AAA-grade specimens have a warmth and depth that lower-grade material cannot match.
