Luminous Dawn

TACARI means luminous dawn in Native American tradition, and this necklace earns that name through the pairing of two materials that sit at different ends of the natural and mineral world. AA-grade cultured pearls at 8 mm form the main body of the strand, their organic, warm lustre carrying the quality of early morning light. At regular intervals, 4 mm tanzanite rondelles appear as deep violet-blue counterpoints, giving the necklace a colour presence that the pearls alone could not achieve. The combination is unexpected and immediately harmonious: two materials rarely brought together, creating a result that is genuinely original.

Cultured Pearls and Tanzanite: Organic and Rare

Cultured pearls are produced by introducing a nucleus into a living oyster or mussel and allowing years of nacre formation to create the gemstone naturally. AA-grade specimens have a warmth and roundness of lustre that distinguishes them from lower-grade material, and their 8 mm size is large enough to carry real presence without becoming heavy. Tanzanite, found only near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, is one of the most geographically rare gemstones in the world. Its blue-violet colouring shifts between deep indigo, purple, and blue depending on the light and angle, a quality called pleochroism that means the stone is genuinely different from different viewpoints. As 4 mm rondelles interspersed along the pearl strand, each tanzanite bead creates a small moment of deep colour that catches the eye as the necklace moves.

How to Wear TACARI

At 38 cm with a 4 cm extension, this necklace sits close to the collarbone in a position that suits both the pearl's organic warmth and the tanzanite's depth of colour. Wear it alone for a considered, formal elegance, or layer it with the DEYA gold chain at a shorter length for a contemporary composition that gives the pearls and tanzanite more visual context. It pairs especially well with the ZARIA Tanzanite Bracelet or the DEA Tanzanite Bracelet for a full tanzanite wrist accent, and with the AMANI Sapphire Earrings for a cool blue-violet frequency from collarbone to ear.
