A Free Spirit, Softly

NAYA means free spirit in Native American tradition, and this necklace expresses that quality through a palette of extraordinary softness. AAA-grade pink opal cube beads at 4.5 mm alternate with AAA-grade moonstone heishi beads at 5 mm, with a single 7 x 7 mm gold-plated centrepiece bead and 4 mm rondelle accents throughout. Blush and white, warm and cool, opaque and luminous, the two stones complement each other through difference rather than similarity. At 38 cm with a 4 cm extension, this necklace sits at a length that rewards close looking.

Pink Opal and Moonstone: Two Stones of the Heart

Pink opal, found primarily in Peru, has a softly opaque milky rose that is warm and gentle, associated with emotional healing and a calm open-heartedness. Moonstone, from Sri Lanka, India, and Madagascar, carries the blue-white adularescence that appears to move beneath the stone's surface, a symbol of feminine intuition and the cyclical nature of growth across cultures for millennia. Together, at similar bead sizes, they create a necklace whose colour is almost entirely in the blush-to-white range but whose material depth is considerable: two different expressions of the same quiet, heart-centred energy, side by side.
