NERA means radiant, full of light, and labradorite in pendant form at this length is one of the most striking expressions of that name in the collection. A fine gold-plated cable chain carries a single 10 mm labradorite sphere pendant at 50 cm with a 4 cm extension, the stone's characteristic labradorescence, that iridescent shift between deep grey, electric teal, and midnight blue, visible from every angle as the pendant moves. At this length it falls below the collarbone, catching the light differently as the wearer moves through different light sources throughout the day. A pendant that is never quite the same twice.

Labradorite: The Stone That Holds the Northern Lights

Labradorite is found in Canada, Finland, Madagascar, and Russia, and its defining optical phenomenon, labradorescence, is created by light interacting with the stone's layered internal structure. The colour shift between deep grey, electric teal, violet, and gold is not surface iridescence but a deep internal effect that only reveals itself from certain angles. According to Inuit legend, the aurora borealis was once trapped inside labradorite and freed by a warrior who struck the stone with his spear.
