ZAURA means life in Arabic, and emerald is perhaps the gemstone most naturally associated with that concept. 4.5 mm emerald cube beads are hand-threaded alongside 2 mm gold-filled round accents, the deep forest green of the emerald appearing in a clean, rhythmic pattern against the warmth of the gold. The cube cut gives each bead six flat faces that reflect light differently from a round bead, creating a more structured, graphic quality that elevates the silhouette above a simple strand. Emerald belongs to the beryl mineral family and has been one of the most prized gemstones in the world for at least four thousand years. Today the finest emeralds come from Colombia, particularly the Muzo and Chivor mines, with significant production also in Zambia, Brazil, and Zimbabwe.
